Continuing and Professional Education Credit Offered through SIA Education@ISC West

Security Industry Association (SIA)

ASIS, ALOA, and NICET Participating

SILVER SPRING, MD – The Security Industry Association (SIA), in association with ISC Events, has announced that attendees at the SIA Education@ISC conference at ISC West 2013 can apply for continuing and professional education credit with ASIS International, the ALOA Security Professionals Association (ALOA), and the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET).

Participants completing sessions and labs through SIA Education@ISC may be eligible to receive ASIS Continuing Professional Education Credit (CPEs), ALOA Education Credits (AECs) and NICET Continuing Professional Development Points (CPDs) toward recertification for a variety of credentials. Individuals seeking recertification credit should check with their respective credentialing organizations to review guidelines and filing processes.
“SIA’s partnerships around continuing and professional educational credit provide conference attendees with the increased value from SIA Education@ISC,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson.

The educational program, which runs April 9-11, was re-titled SIA Education@ISC to recognize SIA’s investment in ISC West education. The three-day program features multiple tracks specifically designed to help attendees maximize the return on security investments and to meet the demand for integrated security solutions that support and advance business objectives.

The program includes sessions devoted to next-generation technologies that are revolutionizing security, such as access; analytics; using publicly available information for security intelligence; and Geospatial Information System (GIS)-based tools that combine security, information technologies, and engineering into a common platform to provide the best real-time security picture at any time, on any day.

New to the 2013 program is the addition of two Learning Labs, workshop-style sessions in which participants practice what they learn.

SIA is also offering the School Safety Series, which will be held on Wednesday, April 10, from 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The series is comprised of four sessions that focus on issues surrounding security on school campuses, including: monitoring remote areas, using smartphones as campus credentials, intelligent response to critical incidents, and a case study on IP video surveillance in a campus setting.
