In Memoriam: Charles Darsch, Director, Corporate Relations, System Sensor
Security Industry Association (SIA) members and the security industry are mourning the recent loss of Charles Darsch, longtime director of corporate relations at System Sensor, who passed away on July 2, 2023, at the age of 92 with his family by his side.
Darsch, an active participant in SIA for many years, proudly served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserve Military Police during the Korean War, and his first job out of college was as a sales engineer for Pollack Corp. in Dorchester, Massachusetts, eventually rising to the position of sales director. He then formed his own alarm installation company, Minuteman Security. Darsch entered the electronic security profession following a tragic event in which a neighbor suffered an intrusion gone wrong, when he realized technology could provide earlier detection and save lives. He leveraged his in-depth knowledge of electronics and security and safety background to work for a military think tank at Aerospace Research Inc., which then became Advisor Research and then Aritech, a major worldwide manufacturer of safety and securiyt technology. He remained within the security industry until retirement from Aritech, Honeywell and System Sensor, one of the largest fire alarm sensor manufacturers worldwide.
Darsch was honored with many industry achievements awards for leadership throughout his career. He was a longtime SIA member, a previous SIA Board of Directors member and the 1998 recipient of the George R. Lippert Memorial Award, and he was named to the Security Sales & Integration Industry Hall of Fame in 2007.
Darsch is survived by his loving wife, Ellen, and his children, stepchildren and grandchildren. He leaves behind a great legacy in our industry and will be dearly missed.
