- With most state legislative sessions across the United States now adjourned for the year, here are key outcomes on myriad issues that security industry leaders and companies should be paying close attention to. - SIA has revealed the honoree list for the second annual 25 on the RISE Awards– a program presented by SIA’s RISE community for emerging security leaders together with Brivo, Genetec and HID. This initiative honors 25 security leaders of today and tomorrow for their impactful contributions to advancing the security industry, and the 2024 class of awardees were honored at the Securing New Ground conference. - October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and the Security Industry Association (SIA) Cybersecurity Advisory Board is marking the occasion with a series of helpful content, tips and guidance on key cybersecurity topics. - The only U.S. state to pass legislation specifically addressing facial recognition technology this year, Maryland’s new law was signed by Gov. Wes Moore on May 26, 2024, and went into effect on Oct. 1. The measure establishes uniform statewide standards applicable to any state or local agency that uses facial recognition technology in criminal investigations.
