SIA spoke with Scott R. Elkins, CEO of Zeus Fire and Security, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.
Tell us the story of your company.
Scott R. Elkins: Zeus Fire and Security (“Zeus”) was formed on Feb. 22, 2022, by bringing together three legacy businesses: UAS, a national account provider of security services based in Philadelphia, SMG of Chicago and Alert Alarm of Hawaii. Zeus is a portfolio company of Access Holdings, a midmarket private equity firm based in Baltimore, Maryland.
As a former owner, and 32-year operator of UAS, I was thrilled to be named CEO of Zeus and begin our mission of creating a modern and enduring, tech-enabled fire and security services business protecting “People, Property and Profits.”
Zeus recently and proudly celebrated our 1,000th day in business by recognizing growth, progress and unity. Over this time, we have expanded in size and strength, now with a team of over 750 dedicated employees across the country, including 63 veterans whose invaluable experience and commitment enrich our mission. This milestone underscores our belief that we are better when we’re together, as we continue to build a brighter, stronger future for our company and the communities we serve.
What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings or your company unique?
SRE: Because Zeus only partners with high-quality legacy businesses, Zeus operates as a “House of Brands” ensuring that our businesses retain their name and legacy in their local markets. From the front end, customers are working with the same brand, often operated by the same leadership team, with the benefit of the Zeus shared services model which provides world class tools and technologies to help modernize, integrate and grow each business. Further, with UAS as Zeus’s national account arm, all our businesses can further expand their capabilities and successfully provide services throughout North America.
By fully integrating each business, Zeus leadership has access to real-time data that allows it to provide support to any of its businesses in functions such as HR, sales, finance, operations and IT.
Zeus owns and operates two UL-listed monitoring centers, one of which was The Monitoring Association’s (TMA’s) 2021 Monitoring Center of the Year.
What is something we might not know about your company – or something new you are doing in security?
SRE: At Zeus Fire and Security, we’re not just keeping pace with technology – we’re setting the standard. Our latest innovation, ZeusAI, is revolutionizing how security is managed, monitored and optimized. Moving beyond traditional reactive systems, ZeusAI delivers a proactive, intelligence-driven approach using advanced computer vision, real-time analytics and predictive insights.
What sets ZeusAI apart is its ability to transform raw video data into actionable insights. Whether analyzing foot traffic patterns, improving checkout efficiency or enhancing perimeter security, ZeusAI doesn’t just watch – it delivers measurable outcomes that boost operational efficiency and profitability. By identifying trends in security footage, ZeusAI helps businesses optimize resources, reduce costs and enhance customer experiences. From predicting theft risks to improving crowd management, ZeusAI turns every frame of video data into an opportunity for growth.
ZeusAI isn’t just smarter security – it’s business intelligence in action. The future of security isn’t coming – it’s already here, and ZeusAI is leading the way!
What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?
SRE: SIA’s stated mission is to be a catalyst for success within the global security industry through information, insight and influence, which dovetails with Zeus’ passion for learning from and supporting the security industry at large. Through ownership, membership, association, etc., Zeus, its companies and its employees actively participate in many important industry organizations and associations including SIA, NetOne (board member and board chair), TMA (board member), the Electronic Security Association (board member), the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (board member), many local industry associations, etc. We view SIA as an important industry association that we’re thrilled to be a part of.
