Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM) Certification

There is a nonrefundable application fee of $325 for SIA members ($375 for nonmembers), as well as a $75 exam fee. Learn more in our CSPM handbook.

There is a list of suggested reading material listed in the CSPM Handbook (download the CSPM handbook). SIA has also added a CSPM Review Course that helps you prepare for the exam in a 1-day format, and is offered both virtually and in person.

You have one calendar year from the date your application was submitted to sit for the CSPM exam. For more details, please download our CSPM Handbook.

You will have up to two-hours to complete the 150-question multiple choice exam. Whether you take the exam at an approved testing center or opt for live, online proctoring, on the day of the exam an experienced test administrator will guide you through the exam process and test taking procedures. After becoming certified, the credential is valid for three years. To maintain the certification a CSPM must pay annual certification maintenance fees and recertify every three years through continuing education or by retesting. For full details, see our CSPM Handbook.

You will need 60 credits to recertify: 30 type A credits and 30 type B credits. Type A credits are earned by completing activities that relate directly to the security project management profession. These activities must be directly focused on the areas covered by the six domains of the CSPM examination specifications. Type B credits are earned by completing activities which enhance the credential holder's overall competency. These activities include professional speaking engagements or completion of management or self-improvement courses, seminars, etc. For full recertifications details, please download our handbook.
