Pricing
The Security Cornerstones series is $99 for employees of SIA member companies and SIA academic members and $199 for nonmembers. Corporate content licensing is available for employee onboarding and development (unlimited employee access). Contact education@securityindustry.org for more information.
Learning Modules Included in Security Cornerstones
Module One: The Security Ecosystem
The Security Ecosystem module offers a comprehensive overview of how the industry works, describing each industry segment and the products and services they provide. Participants learn how various stakeholders work together to create successful security deployments.
Module Two: Access Control
The Access Control module introduces participants to key concepts in physical access control, including visitor management and the practice of granting or restricting access to areas using various locks, barriers, and monitoring systems.
Module Three: Video Security
The Video Security module explores the differences between digital, analog and IP devices, including signal components and connections. This module also covers the advantages and disadvantages of different camera types and explains core components of common video surveillance devices such as analytic features.
Module Four: Alarms & Detection
The Alarms & Detection module covers alarm types, intrusion monitoring, and detection systems, including sensors and communication between control panels and platforms. Participants will explore technology integration, monitoring stations, and response coordination with law enforcement and private security.
Module 5: Security & Convergence
The Security & Convergence module highlights the critical role of integrating physical and cyber security to mitigate risks and strengthen protections. Participants will explore physical security’s role in the Internet of Things, cyber vulnerabilities, and strategies for collaboration and mitigation.
Module 6: Audio Security
The Audio Security module explores the dynamic role of audio and intelligent communications in enhancing security. This module offers an overview of multisensor audio analytics, business optimization strategies, false alarm reduction and key legal considerations.
Module 7: Data Privacy
The Data Privacy module addresses critical principles that govern the collection, use and protection of personal data. The module covers essential topics such as privacy by design, data minimization, the relationship between privacy and security, and key aspects of legislation and regulatory compliance.
Module 8: Critical Infrastructure
The Critical Infrastructure module reviews the 16 critical infrastructure sectors and examines the cyber-physical security considerations required to protect against evolving threats. Participants will learn about the importance of building a strong security foundation and developing a unified approach to physical security incident response.
