About the Essentials 4 Job Security Giveback

The SIA Women in Security Forum (WISF) is calling upon our friends throughout the Security Industry and beyond to help women achieve financial independence. By supporting Essentials 4 Job Security Giveback, you can personally make a difference in helping the women of southern Nevada build careers and become self-sufficient.

The Situation

Sixteen percent of women in Nevada ages 18 and older live in poverty and struggle to afford basic needs such as food, stable housing and health insurance. In 2022, 36% of female-headed households with children were living in poverty.

Dress for Success of Southern Nevada (DFSSNV) serves job-ready women by referral from nonprofit organizations, including domestic violence agencies, homeless shelters and job-training programs. The organization's programs transition women toward self-sufficiency by offering them a confidence boost and encouragement to help them succeed in their interview and the retention programs enabling them to grow professionally and personally.

How We Can Help

Our partnership with Dress for Success Southern Nevada will help women who are trying to get back into the workforce. Through acts of kindness and donations, WISF can help women feel more confident and self-assured as they take steps to improve their lives.

DFSSNV provides each woman with one suit or professional outfit for her job interview. When she successfully lands a job, she returns to Dress for Success for a second suit and up to a week’s worth of business-appropriate separates and accessories. She will also receive an invitation to join the Professional Women’s Group, Dress for Success' employment retention service.

Items Needed:

• Basic black work attire
• Button-down and polo shirts – preferably white or black
• Slacks – navy, khaki or gray
• Handbags
• Flats, loafers and other low-heel, closed-toe workplace shoes – black, brown or blue (no sneakers)
• Accessories: belts, scarves and jewelry
• New, unopened makeup for darker skin tones
• Hygiene kits: New, sealed travel size toiletries, liquid shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer (no bars of soap)
