Security technology industry's market confidence report finds 2020 ending with a high industry outlook

Provided to Security Industry Association (SIA) members as a review of current market conditions, the November/December 2020 Security Market Index (SMI) shows that the security industry's outlook is the highest it has been since the start of the pandemic, with a SMI of 54, up from 49 in September. An index above 50 indicates that conditions within the industry are largely positive and that security industry professionals are predominantly confident in their business outlooks. Special focuses of SIA’s November/December 2020 SMI include:
  • Steady confidence in the video surveillance sector
  • Signs of new optimism within the integrator sector
  • Confidence in the access control solutions market wavering slightly but remaining high
  • Predictions on the impact of the 2020 election on the economy
