Security Industry Community Service Day
#SecurityGivesBack on june 7, 2024, with new day focused on community service projects
Created by the SIA Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Advisory Board, the Security Industry Community Service Day is a day meant to rally the entire security industry to give back and make the world a better place.
The inaugural Security Industry Community Service Day stems from a day of service that volunteers from Zenitel and Convergint pioneered and spreads this commitment of service to the entire security industry. For this inaugural year, SIA wishes to thank ASSA ABLOY and HID; these companies have committed to sponsoring this inaugural service day.

When: Friday, June 7, 2024 – The Community Service Day will always be held the first Friday in June, allowing companies to plan the service day into their annual schedule.
How You Can Get Involved
SIA’s Security Industry Community Service Day encourages each company to give back in a way that best matches its own company values and the interests of its team. While some companies may choose to participate as a team, other organizations may wish to empower employees to identify ways to individually contribute.
Some ideas for service and volunteering:
- Support of local meal providers and food kitchens
- Volunteering at schools
- Food collections and clothing drives
- Donation of professional services
- Senior support programs
- Support and services for disabled persons
- Volunteer home construction and improvement projects
- Clean-ups and community beautification
- Financial contributions to relevant service organizations
- Direct support of local community members in need
Find a Volunteer Opportunity: Need more ideas? Look for information on sites like Volunteermatch.org, Volunteer.gov and Idealist.org that serve as clearinghouses of information on volunteer opportunities. Many states, major U.S. cities and some counties also provide listings of local volunteer organizations.
